Allow us to reintroduce ourselves
Reintroducing Creative Parenting Club: A community for creatively-minded parents
Stop us if this sounds familiar: you're trying to get the dishes done, wrangle kids into bed, and maybe sneak in some time to think about tomorrow. One kid is tugging at your leg while the other refuses to put on night clothes. There’s more than enough going on in the moment itself. Yet amidst the chaos, your mind wanders back to some creative task you didn’t manage to finish during the workday. Or maybe it’s that side project you’ve been meaning to invest more time in — but you never seem to find the right opportunity.
Yeah, we’ve been there too.
This constant juggling act — between nurturing our kids and nurturing ourselves — is why we’re so excited about the (re)launch of Creative Parenting Club.
This is not just another parenting group, and it’s definitely not the kind of space where you’ll find shiny Instagram versions of family life. Instead, it’s a place for parents who are trying to balance meaningful, connected parenting with our creative passions and sense of self.
As creative parents, we know this isn’t easy. Parenting has never been more overwhelming. Even on the best days, it feels like there’s never enough time, space or energy to do everything. Through it all, we’re faced with a relentless barrage of advice, opinions, and social media posts reminding us of all the ways we’re falling short.
It’s time for a different approach.
Let’s get creative
This is a community for all the parents out there whose creative spark refuses to go away. It’s a place for us to learn, connect, support and get inspired by one another — in creative life, family life and all the places where they overlap.
The story of Creative Parenting Club began on the dance floor.
The two of us met originally through our related project the Kinder Rave — a community of families coming together for regular daytime rave events with our kids.
Turns out, hosting family techno parties was a good way to meet some pretty cool parents.
It wasn’t long before we saw how many other people there were out there trying to juggle caregiving and creativity in ways that felt both inspiring and deeply relatable.
Born out of this experience, Creative Parenting Club is our effort to build something bigger.
This is a place for parents to find stories and perspectives that can help us to thrive both in our parenting as well as our creative pursuits.
At the same time, we hope this will also be somewhere that you can turn to for tangible tools and resources. Whether it’s tips on finding more time for creative projects, managing work-life balance, or rethinking what it means to pursue your passions, we’re here to help each other.
What to expect from us in 2025
In the weeks and months to come, we look forward to speaking with a diverse mix of parents doing their own version of the same dance.
From artists to art directors, we’ll do our best to introduce you to people working in a wide range of creative careers.
We’ll also continue to talk to parents who might not make their living through creative pursuits, but who find joy and meaning in carving out space for creativity amidst the demands of work, family and everything else.
On top of that you can expect to see lots of essays and curated writing from us this year exploring the intersection of creativity and family life.
Soon, you’ll also have the chance to hear directly from parents in our Creative Parenting Podcast (relaunching February 2025).
Our first parent profile and essay of 2025 will drop later this month. In the meantime, check out our Archive to meet some of the amazing parents who’ve appeared in past newsletters.
We’re all in this together
Too often, the world tells parents that raising kids means setting aside our own ambitions, dreams, and passions.
But here’s the truth: parenting and creativity aren’t mutually exclusive. They’re deeply intertwined. The lessons we learn as parents make us better creators, and the passion we bring to our creative pursuits can also make us better parents.
Regardless of where you are in your creative journey, we hope that Creative Parenting Club will be a place that you feel seen and supported.
Whether you are actively pursuing a creative career, dabbling in a hobby, or simply looking for inspiration and direction as you juggle your various life roles, our goal is for parents of all stripes to feel a sense of community and connection.
Our manifesto
If you’re a parent who also considers yourself a creative person — whether you’re an artist, writer, entrepreneur or someone who simply finds joy in making and exploring — we invite you to join us on this journey. Together, we are building a community that uplifts, empowers and inspires.
Parenting is hard. Creativity is hard. Doing both? Even harder. But we believe the balance is worth fighting for.
Let’s find ways to embrace the beautiful, messy duality of our lives: as caregivers and creators, as parents and dreamers, as people who love our kids and still strive to live fully for ourselves.
Here’s to the spark that keeps us going. We’re so happy to have you here with us.
Happy New Year!
